Our Math 2 Honors students have even worked with Mrs. Lancerio and Mr. Ferroni to use their knowledge of 3 dimensional solids to design and print objects using a 3D printer. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to check in with math students often about their DeltaMath and IXL assignments, as well as ask them how they are performing on assessments in Schoolnet or AP Central.
Science
Johnson's Anatomy Class
Students began the year discussing what keeps our bodies alive as well as terms used in the medical field. We have focused on the skeletal system and muscular system so far. The students completed a dissection on a long bone (chicken leg) to observe the structure and have created a model of a muscle bundle. We are excited to see what's next!
Johnson's and Ferroni's Chemistry Class
To begin the year we talked about atoms and the parts of them as well as how they were discovered. We have since progressed to chmeical bonds, how they are named, and the formulas. We grew crystals to demonstrate ionic bonding! We have lots more to learn and are looking forward to another lab.
Hinkle's Ap Earth and Environmental Science
In APES students are participating in an owl pellet lab to work on food webs and food pyramids.
Ferroni's Environmental Science
In Environmental Science, the students are learning about the Rock Cycle. By using a rock tumbler, students are modeling the weathering process which is one process in the Rock Cycle.
Ferroni's Honors Chemistry
In Honors Chemistry, students have been growing Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate crystals. This process takes some time; these crystals have been growing for about 4 weeks. The students now know that these crystals are Ionic Compounds and how to name the chemical!
Miles Biology Students
Biology students participated in Teach to Learn with anaerobic respiration. Students became teachers who taught a small group of peers. We also used spinach leaves to investiagte the reactants of photosynthesis. How fun!
