Eagles are… Connected, Empowered, Prepared. EAGLES LEAD!
Established in 1951 and located in our current building since 1980, WIlkes Central High School welcomes students from Central Wilkes Middle School and the elementary communities of Moravian Falls, Wilkesboro, CC Wright, North Wilkesboro, and Boomer Ferguson. We also welcome students new to our community of joining us from private, home, and/or charter schools. Our student body of approximately 750 students meets every day from 7:45AM to 3:30 PM. WCHS has a strong tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, fine arts, community leadership and more, and it is up to each of you to partner with us to not only uphold that tradition of excellence, but also to leave WCHS better than when you first arrive. Our vision is that ALL students in our Eagle Nation are EMPOWERED to unlock their potentials, so that when they are ready to leave The Nest they are prepared to ENROLL, ENLIST, and/or EMPLOY

Wilkes Central High School strives to combine high academic standards based on the NC Common Core Standards with vast opportunities for students to also grow behaviorally, socially, and emotionally. Our daily schedule is structured to include four 90-minute blocks, along with a 42-minute intervention.enrichment block called Eagle Impact. Our school also focuses on cultivating global ready skills, essential social-emotional skills, and a growth mindset culture to prepare students for college and career, and all students have a personal laptop device for their use at school and at home if appropriate permission forms are completed. Our faculty engages in professional collaboration through data team meetings, content planning, professional learning communities, and multi-disciplinary action teams, and all teachers have 90 minutes of planning daily. All students are alloted 25 minutes during their lunch block. Our creative schedule also allows equitable access to participation in clubs during the regular school day during Eagle Impact. In order to attend clubs, students must meet and maintain high standards for attendance, academics, and behavior. Students are encouraged and empowered to showcase leadership daily in our classrooms and beyond by serving on our Student Council and other clubs, applying for school and classroom jobs, participating in athletics band, and other extracurricular activities, and representing our school in various capacities in the community and beyond.
