By-Laws of the National Beta Club
Wilkes Central High School Chapter | Updated October 2017
🦅 Article I: Name
The name of this organization shall be the Wilkes Central High School Chapter of the National Beta Club.
🦅 Article II: Time and Place of Meetings
Determined by student officers and teacher sponsors. Announced via morning announcements, Canvas, and Twitter. Meetings held at least once per month during the school year and once during the summer.
🦅 Article IV: Affiliation
Governed by the academic and financial policies of the National Beta Club. Coat-of-arms, motto, colors, and creed shall be those of the national organization.
🦅 Article V: Purpose
Promotion of scholarship, leadership, community service, and good citizenship at Wilkes Central High School.
🦅 Article VI: Membership
Open to grades 9-12. Requirements include a 3.25 GPA with no grade below 80 on grade-level work for one semester to qualify for an invitation.
🦅 Article VII: Service
Members must record a minimum of 10 service points per semester. Documentation includes hours, type of service, and a narrative signed by a verifier and sponsor.
🦅 Article VIII: Loss of Membership
Members may be dropped for:
- Unjustifiable absence from a regular meeting.
- Scholastic deficiency (GPA falling below 3.25 for a semester).
- Disciplinary issues (more than 2 ISS referrals or any OSS).
- Failure to meet service requirements and probationary terms.
🦅 Article IX: Dues
$25.00 for the induction year and $15.00 thereafter. $15.00 of the induction fee is sent directly to National Headquarters.
🦅 Article XV: Honor Cords
Issued to seniors in good standing. Cords are worn at senior awards and graduation as symbols of achievement. Cords are paid for by the member unless a fundraiser is active.
